The second release of the week is Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Calendar Girls’ which marks the debut of five actresses – Akanksha Puri, Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt, Ruhi Singh and Satarupa Pyne.
Following Madhur Bhandarkar’s story telling ability to shed light on the dark side of glamour and showbiz, ‘Calendar Girls’ revolves around five girls from different parts of the country who come together to feature on the most prestigious calendar, regardless of the physical or emotional demands.
Loosely based on liquor baron Vijay Mallya and his famous Kingfisher Calendar Girls, the Bhandarkar directed drama is inspired from the lives and struggles of five bikini beauties who go on to become the calendar girls.
The director promised that ‘Calendar Girls’ will shock audiences with its revelations.”The movie is 75 per cent reality and 25 per cent fiction. There will be a lot of revelations made and things shown that will shock you. Finally, it is an emotional story that will find a connect with viewers. It’s a story about hope,” said the director at the trailer launch of the film.
The ‘Heroine’ director also assured, “’Calender Girls’ is neither an extension nor similar to my earlier hit ‘Fashion’ as problems faced by these girls are different from models, whose brand value stays longer than the calendar girls.”
Lastly, ‘Go Goa Gone’ actor Kunal Kemmu returns to the big screen this Friday as Janardhan “Johnny” Arora in thriller ‘Bhaag Johnny’ alongside Zoa Morani who made her debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s production ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’.
The film tells the tale of a lover boy who unintentionally gets trapped in a plan, which in turn forces him to lead dual lives.

Talking about the film, Kunal had said, “It was a unique story that I heard. The film is based on the saying that everyone knows that your life is the result of your actions. The choices that you make direct the way in which your life moves ahead.”
Directed by Shivam Nair, ‘Bhaag Johnny’ also features debutant Mandana Karimi.
